<p>I was not accepted into a top private college ranked from #30 to #40 on the US News ranking. Sorry, I do not want to disclose the name of it right now. I have reason to belive that there may have been a clerical/filing error during their evaluation. I also didn’t submit some very important ECs to them. Would it be possible to appeal the decision, and how does one get started with the process? </p>

<p>easy, you send the admissions office a letter explaining why you are appealing the decision and then state your case.</p>

<p>Not really. Admissions is pretty random and even saying you got into Harvard will not help your cause.</p>

<p>Surely you can’t suppose they would reward your arrogance. The only appropriate way to “appeal” a decision is through your guidance counselor. You cannot seriously think that informing them of what you deem an “error” as being anything other than insolent and assuming on your part. Additionally, do you really think that mentioning getting into a “better” school will increase your chances? No seriously, you sound really unintelligent.</p>

<p>im kinda in the same situation as i mentioned…i got into carnegie mellon and a few other top 25/30 schools but got rejected completly from NYU…its KILLING me…but i cant assume its their mistake even though i would love to</p>

<p>Also, if I were you, I wouldn’t dare indicate that I thought their decision was a mistake- even if they agreed, they would never disclose that to you merely for your daring to suppose it as such. If you were really passionate however, you should politely request they review your application, and be sure to add something new of significance that wasn’t included in your app- otherwise, you’d be asking them to just come to the same conclusion with the same information they had before.</p>
