That’s a really great improvement, jeremyperil. Wow! Did you study a lot?

I improved my SAT score by 600 points during 10th grade to 11th grade (PSAT and SAT score difference). So SAT is not indomitable. As long as you put the time in it, it’s pretty easy to improve.

Well, sophomore and junior years are vastly different. And the PSAT and SAT are not really comparable. Jeremy improved over 6 months (end of one school year to middle of the next). Whatever…I only took the SAT once.

Jeremy how did u improve so much please give me tips

well, i took the blue book and the princeton review book and did all the math sections… and figured out why i missed each problem that i missed. if i didn’t understand how to do a problem, i just asked someone else who knew a good way of doing it, so 700 to 800.

critical reading, i just did some random practice tests, nothing very much… in all honesty, i think all you can do is to do practice tests for the CR and try to become better at answering the passages. personally, i hate memorizing vocab and i think that’s a waste of time: how much can you memorize… there are so many words out there and you have no guarantee that what you memorized will be on the test! its much safer to prep for the passages.

writing i think was a fluke. i didn’t study for that section very much… but in class, our teacher has been giving us grammar worksheets daily, so that may have helped. and i think i got lucky on the essay (9 essay -> 11 essay).

wow lynxie that’s amazing!

Perhaps, but my GPA scuttles so many of my options and chances ^_^.

Jeremy…can you tell me where I can get the blue book and the princeton book for my daughter so she can prepare for her second SAT test in May? Thanks for your help.

SharonD, the Blue book is the official Collegeboard prep book. You buy it off their site. It costs about $20 if I’m not mistaken.

The Princeton review book you can buy on Amazon or eBay.

PSAT: 203
First SAT: 2220

lol its like the opposite for me Lynxie. my gpa is spectacular but my sat score doesnt seem to match my academic level. we’ll see on march 29.

Thanks a bunch…will check into that and also the possibility of a private tutor to better prepare her the second time around in May. Which do you recommend…either one or both?

" Math IIC: 790"

ouch…lynxie

lol my sat ruins my chances. my gpa and rank will help me

Mine: 2240: 710 math, 740 verbal, 790 writing.

My essay score’s kinda of embarrassing, but i’ll tell you that i would have had 800 writing if it was 1 point higher.
Also: For the Duke Talent Search, how do you get scholarships for the programs they offer? I haven’t gotten the broshures yet but I will in April.
