I can’t agree more. Applying for jobs and interviewing is enormously time-consuming. Location, money, status, feeling “wanted” are such important factors. Some jobs require travel only in the States, and others international travel, which appeals to S. We can’t plan any trips over vacation as S still has other interviews. It feels like the college application time all over again.</p>

Yep. Same stress, same anxiety. And this time around I got to feel what the parent of someone who was accepted EA/ED felt.</p>
<p>Except that this time around we’re almost completely removed from the process. We were asked opinions about the relative merits of some writing samples. I did research some other entry-level job salaries for comparable jobs in the area to give D some benchmarks and I did suggest some salary negotiating considerations…she accepted the offered salary right up front though and it’s really not that bad compared to the benchmarks…it also comes with remarkably good benefits by today’s standards, including contributions to a retirement fund, LOL…shouldn’t laugh…start early and keep building.</p>
<p>A postscript on D’s job offer. It came from a group where she was the (a?) bridesmaid for an internship last summer, one she was disappointed not to get. In not selecting her, they invited her to apply for this job. She thought it over and did. The other thing that’s a bit flukey is that she took one part-time internship here at home and then almost as an afterthought accepted the offer of a second part-time internship (different days). The outfit that has hired her was very interested in her experience with the second internship, didn’t give a minute’s attention to the first.</p>
