I just graduated with a BS in Cytotechnology. I have two opportunities for employment. Which will be best if I plan on applying to medical school in a few years?

Opportunity 1:
Working as a Research Tech in a cancer lab at a top ten research institution. I would have direct contact with the PI (an MDPhD) and will be able to shadow her in the clinic. I have little research history, so I will be learning many new techniques and skills.

Opportunity 2:
Working as a Cytotechnologist for a private lab/company. Cytotechs work directly under pathologists in helping diagnose cancer and disease. My primary duty would be to examine pap smears and body fluids to determine the presence of cancer. While this job has no patient contact, I feel it is more related to patient care than research.

Thanks for your help!
