Post Your Excuse Here

I browsed some threads here and it seems we have a large population of whiners on these boards (cough transfers2010, Dem Bones). I felt I have an obligation to the board to develop a list of excuses as to why you may be denied law school admission to your top choices. Tell me which ones you are going to use.

I was born the wrong color. The fact that my race has consistently had greater opportunities throughout history indicates that this should continue to be the case.

I went to an undergrad school that is too highly ranked. Nevermind the main reason I decided to attend this school was to inflate my ego (Imagine telling my friends or even strangers that I attend a mediocre state school, well they would think I was a stupid loser!). I could obviously get straight As at every school in the nation ranked lower than mine, but I CHOSE to challenge myself.

Even though I spent thousands of dollars on test prep courses and tutoring, I still had to do work on my own to get a good score. That’s not fair. In this country, doing well on an exam should be as simple as buying the score.

It’s the Obama administraton’s fault. Obama wouldn’t even have gone to Harvard Law School if he weren’t black.

My personal statement, titled “Why I want to be a lawyer” was the best bs I could have come up with! I could not have shot the bull better if I tried. Why could the admissions teams not see how fantastic I was at making up ridiculous things to make myself appear to be a modest, hardworking individual?

I would have got a better LSAT score if the lighting was better.

That’s a good start, please feel free to continue.

ha, not bad

This is a terrible thread.

K, never said I wasn’t going to get into law school for any reason. I’m sure I have a good shot at UCLA, USC, and other good law schools in my top choices. GPA is fine, LSAT is fine. Just said a lot of URMs get a leg up, and many of them really get into a school they really wouldn’t have if not for being a URM. Many of them earn their way just fine.

Also, I just said it’s a stupid idea to attend a lower ranked school just because you’ll have a better shot at having a higher GPA (which I’m pretty sure is what you did, and why you are posting this thread. Offended much?). People should just choose the best possible institution available to them. I think most people would agree with that idea.

Never complained about Obama either, I voted for him. Going to vote for him again most likely.

I don’t know how much this goes on in this thread (I’m new to this thread) but in a lot of other threads I have seen things like:
-I didn’t care in high school and now I feel like the world should forgive me for my lack of effort
-and also “I had things going on at the time which were more important than my future”

Just trying to add some humor into a not so funny topic… I was being satirical.

Thanks for your contributions bored299, good stuff.
