Post your own state's college reputations'

“I’m pretty sure UCLA is everyone in America’s dream school.”

See, living in Southern California makes you realize that LA is not all it’s cracked up to be and idolize Northern California for some strange reason. At least half of my graduating class that went to college went to the Bay Area or somewhere near it.

UCLA is definitely not everyone’s dream school.

^ Heh, why do I want to go to the southern satellite branch campus when you got the true original flagship campus? :P

I wouldnt put much stock in Lilbeebee’s response. Obviously doesnt have a clue abt SC schools. Furman for example has no religious affiliation any more (not since Nineties). Both Furman and Clemson have mid 50s acceptance rates

George2007, Being that I do live in SC, I DO have more than a clue about South Carolina schools and the fact that I have friends going to all of these schools does prove that I have knowledge of colleges in South Carolina.
What about yourself?

Neither Furman or Clemson are difficult to get into, maybe for South Carolina standards but any average honors or AP student can get into Clemson as long as you have a decent package to go along with it. I know many people who go to Clemson and they’re not above average kids, it’s overrated. BTW The point of this thread is to post stereotypes! So you can take that however, if you want the complete and absolute truth about a school go elsewhere.

If you knew so much about SC schools, you wouldn’t have put simply a ? for Wofford…

I’m sorry but I don’t recall saying I knew soo much about SC schools. I said I have knowledge about some of the schools. Granted there are a lot more schools in SC than I listed
The question mark was put there because there’s not much that stands out in my opinion.
But since you want to know about Wofford,
Their mascot is the terriers, their colors gold and black. Pretty small. liberal arts college in spartanburg.

*that I didn’t list.

You told me nothing about Wofford that I didn’t know already.

Since when was that my duty? That’s right it’s not.
I recommend you go to Wofford’s website that might help you.

Well since I’m already in college, it’s entirely irrelevant. I was just pointing it out.

oh fantastic. in SC?

No, thank god.

lmao
wow.

lol, wow. dio, lay off, shesh.

i <3 this thread :)

the post IS
“Post your own state’s college reputations”

Alright, here’s how a lot of Illinoisans see Illinois state schools:

U of I Urbana-Champaign-This is where you go if you want to stay in-state. Very well respected. Only state school that is really worth coming to from out of state.

U of I Chicago-If you’re interested in medicine, sure, otherwise not a big draw

U of I Springfield-Nobody knows it exists

ISU-Good for Education, other than that, very eh.

Southern-party school at Carbondale, Edwardsville is somewhat known for pharmacy

Western and Eastern-A lot of kids apply to both, and not many kids that could get in at a lot of other places apply, rarely ever a first choice

Northern-Mostly Chicago kids, not a downstate school

Alabama -

1) Auburn University - The best university in our state. Most agriculture, engineering, and architecture (their arch program is up there with MIT’s) but also a very strong English program.

2) University of Alabama - Just behind Auburn. Very strong journalism, law, and communications programs.

3) University of Alabama at Birmingham - Kicks ass for medical stuff.

Everything else is creepy. Universities of North, West, and South Alabama are all scary.

For the people doing med, I HOPE YOU KNOW THAT IT DOES NOT MATTER WHERE YOU GET YOUR BACHELORS, really though i know a friend that went to UCF (:[) and got accepted to Harvard Madical.

College Park has a good reputation and Johns Hopkins is phenomenal. Otherwise, my instate schools are lacking. Loyola and UMBC have some face value. Salisbury and Frostburg are party schools.
