Post your schools Naviance Scattergrams for the Ivies:

My school in MA:

Harvard: gpa 3.91/sat 2259
Brown: gpa 3.69 / sat 2214
Yale: gpa3.52/sat 2308
Princeton: gpa4.14/sat2350
Columbia: gpa3.89/sat 2300
Dartmouth:gpa4.04/sat2360
Cornell: 3.61/2087
Stanford:4.1/2283

Are these averages for people accepted at these schools? Is GPA weighted or unweighted?

Yes those are for people who were accepted. gpa is unweighted.

these are weighted:
Brown: GPA 3.89/ SAT 2165
Cornell: GPA 3.83/ SAT 2000
UPenn: GPA 4.02/ SAT 2147
Yale: GPA 3.95/ SAT 2130

the rest are hidden from me =(

I know the average stats are slightly misleading, since most accepted students have very high gpa and sat scores while a few have very low stats.

super,

I dont think the gpas are weighted

How can you have unweighted gpa’s over a 4.0?

Igglesfan,

You are right you can’t. It just seems that the weighted gpas are too low for ivies.

nope, the GPAs are definately weighted. Without the .5 weight for AP Classes, the highest we can get is 4.00, plus our school only gives out weighted grades (weird)

If I were you, I wouldn’t focus too much on GPA. The Ivy League academic index, which is a numeric score that is a first crack at one’s chances of admissions, is based on SAT scores and class rank, not GPA. If class rank is not reported, most (and maybe all) Ivies will guess at one. So, GPA in that case is relative to others at your school.

hmm… let’s think… i’ll do rank instead of GPA

Princeton: #2 / 2300ish (800’s on all 3 SAT II’s)
Columbia: #3 / 2250ish
Johns Hopkins: #1 / 2340
Dartmouth: #8 / 2200ish
Duke: #9 / 2350
UPenn: #5 / 2300ish
