Just have some free time and i am pissed that i did not get in
had 3.54 gpa and 1260 sat thought i was in, but i guesses wrong
just wanted to know other stats because had some friends lower stats got in
I’m really sorry you didn’t get in. It is always disappointing when that happens. What major did you apply for? Did you put summer option? What about doing the 2+2?
It is tempting to try to compare your scores to others, but it really depends on how your school weights your grades and the rigor of coursework that you took. It is nearly impossible to compare stats on a board like college confidential. If others in your HS got in with lower stats, then they must have had something that differentiated them such as higher test scores, more AP or honors classes, etc…
It is an exercise in frustration to attempt to figure out how schools determine their admissions. Sometimes there appears to be no rhyme or reason.
Accounting
Because you applied through Smeal, which is very competitive, you could always call to be reevaluated for DUS and even summer session. You could still apply for accounting your junior year and you’ll have a better shot of getting in!
Yeah, a 3.54 for Smeal won’t work. Smeal is THE most competitive college to get into at PSU. Only 11% of direct admits were accepted last year. Most applicant have very near a 4.0 or over and SAT scores in the upper 1300’s and up.
That being said, your stats ARE in the ballpark to get in undecided (DUS). The process for getting into Smeal junior year is the same for DUS students as it is for students that applied and got accepted for Smeal as a pre major. Make sure you understand how the majors work. NO ONE is “IN” a major until Junior year. Even if you’d gotten into smeal, you’d still have to do all of the entry to major requirements that you have to do as a DUS student to get into Smeal.
I’d call and see if you can get re evaluated for DUS. You might have to add the summer session at this point because DUS Is filling up. BUT, it is a way to get into UP for freshman year.
If you are willing to do a 2+2 at a commonwealth campus, Altoona is the closest to UP and lots of students are pretty involved with the UP campus even at Altoona.
