Postponing study after one semester

I have already sent in my deposit and will attend WashU during the fall, but I’m also expecting to go back to my native country (KOREA) for mandatory military service after one semester of WashU.

How will this postponing work?
Do I have to pay for a full academic year or more in advance before I can start my 2 year military service?
How will my studies continue after training for 2 years without studying?
I’m most worried about how the 2 year gap in studies will affect how I pay and continue my education at WashU

If anybody has gone through a smiliar problem of taking a break for more than a year, I would appreciate your advice!!

You pay by semester anyway, right?

I think I forgot to put that question up there
When I filled in the certification of finances form I had to put the annual total expenses (including tuition, housing, everything) in years, and if I have to pay that amount for a full year when I attend WashU for one semester I may face some problems (as I’m still considering going to university in Korea after my 2 year military service)

But (I know this only about Singapore), can’t you defer military service until after graduation?

Dont want to wait that long, and I’ll forget everything after studying and going to military for 2 years, a very long time aint it ^^
Going earlier is always better and I need to get fit again haha
Seriously, can anybody answer this question, how does WashU handle postponements when the student is also considering other universities

I doubt you can get any useful advice on this forum. Your situation is too unusual. You have to talk to WUSTL admissions office, and they will direct you to someone who is qualified to answer your question.

yeah, you’re right
My parents decided that they will pay for my 4 years at WASHU so I’m going to attend and graduate from WASHU, so HAPPY!!!
Don’t need to go back to Korea yeay
Thanks for your comments

Man you managed to ditch service by emigrating? Where is your patritiosm! Okay, I’m just joking…next time theres a major draft, I’m looking into housing in Canda. I’m just so not into the heavy explosives, mines, booby-traps, shrapnel, and chemical weapons so widely in use today’s way.

what are you talking about??
I’m going to go to WashU for a year and then finish my military service and go back to WashU…
I meant that I wont need to go to Korea for an education, just military
