potential conflict- need help!

Okay so I have this internship with a bank in my area in the risk management division which I’m excited about. Its M-F 9 to 5 and compensation is 1000- taxes per month. However, I was planning to waitress on the side in order to make extra money, and I generally have fun waitressing.

Since I would be waitressing for a country club, its only open thurs-sun for dinners. However, I’m worried that there will be a conflict because I am supposed to get out of my internship at 5, and usually the dinner shift for waitressing starts anytime from 4-5…

So I don’t know how to go about fixing this problem. I was thinking about emailing the HR lady to ask if I could cut a half hour of my lunch, or come in half hour early, but I don’t want to annoy anyone at the company before I even get there…But I do want to waitress, in order to make more money (since I use the money from the summer throughout the school year).

Thoughts, comments?

1000 per month only??? is it a really small bank?

Since they are paying so little the should understand you need to work the second job. I think it’s reasonable to explain and ask to work more at other times.

It’s a small bank, its actually a subsidary of a larger bank and I’m working in one of the smaller branches. A lot of my friends are working for free, especially those in the finance industry.

Also, I’m a sophomore…so it was even more difficult to find finance related internships this summer.

hmom5, do you think its going to put me on the wrong foot to begin with at the office? That’s the last thing I want to do. However, I am not looking for the internship to turn into another summer internship or full time employment. I just dont want to **** anyone off, but at the same time would like to work on the side.
