Power of Networking can equal dream job

My son is hs class of 2017, going to Kansas State, accepted in their Early Admission to vet school program, animal science major wanting to be an equine vet.

Summer camp for 12 years led him to play polocrosse, he met a lady from Alabama playing and became friends.

She recently posted online about an equine vet hiring a full-time vet tech in our town. S called him to see if he might be able to shadow him some this summer. It turns out the vet is a graduate of K-State and plays polo like my son.

They met him and started with “here is what we can do for you.” They offered him summer jobs for the next 7 summers. The vet travels to 7 states. S would travel with him, use state of the art equipment and make great contact. Add to it the vet wants him to help exercise his polo ponies! The vet is taking him 6 hours away next weekend to get a feel for the work.

This is a dream job and all came from summer camp and Facebook. Don’t overlook the little things when looking for a job or internship!
