Lately I’ve been tempted to buy some kind of power scrubber device to get the grunge (and a bit of black/mold?) off our shower pan. Do they work? Any suggested models?

Bump… my “power teen” made a little progress on our shower. But still needs work. Looking for more hints.

Want to hear how we got our shower pan clean? I took daily showers in it with the drain blocked and some Epsom Salts. I was trying to do a soak w/o a full tub. After a few weeks of this, I noticed that the pan looked clean! BTW my neighbor resorted to replacing her old pan. I never did scrub it much, but I do love those scrub bubbles for bathroom soap scum removal. To summarize, soak the pan daily for a while to loosen the junk. I don’t know about power scrubbers. I use that chlorine bathroom cleaner on my tub and scrub it with an old toothbrush, and that seems to be adequate. Good luck!

My MIL had “invested” in a Power Scrubber (or two or three, lol) = some never taken out of the box. And the shower/tub continued to look grungy (sp?) She was never much of a housekeeper, lol, but she was a beloved mother, grandmother and greatgrandmother. When she died a couple of years ago, DH and siblings inherited the lake cabin.

I did a lot of cleaning  (It’s in my genes).

I used Mr. Clean Magic Eraser on the tub and tile surround. My SIL said she’d never realized the tub was actually white!

Guess where I learned about Magic Eraser? Why, right here in the Parent Cafe, where else?

PS

The black mold will come off with either the Magic Eraser, or X-14 spray or bleach/bleach pen. But not if it’s embedded in the silicone caulk. For that, I think you have to get the caulk all the way out, bleach and then re-caulk.

I have a few tools. Never found a power scrubber that worked. I now rely on chemicals, esp ones geared toward mold and mildew. As well as bleach. But not at the same time.
