Pr Sat2: Chem (atomic Spectra)

OK so im preparing for the SAT Chem and I noticed the PR book im studying did not have any information on the ATOMIC SPECTRA like wavelenghth and stuff. What book or source would be a good review for this topic…i thought PR was good for SAT Chem…i guess not :(

i dont think that stuff is on there…honestly. wasnt on any of my practice tests or on the real test. that stuff is more of physics and is an intro to atomic structure

I took the Chemistry SAT II last June and can honestly say that there were no questions pertaining to wavelengths, atomic spectra, etc. However, it is obligatory to know how to identify electron configurations and the periodic trends, which are somewhat related to the topic which you mentioned. I believe that all that material was in the 2007 PR book which I used. However, if you are still dubious as I was when I was in your situation, you should reread the sections on atomic spectra in your school’s chem book, or procure a physics text book and read the chapter on light and optics.

There was one such question in the December Sat IIs. It asked what is “n” when referring to atomic spectra (its the principal quantum number). It was pretty simple.

but u shuld know quantum numbers, thats in the review book. the stuff hes talking about is more physics but is often included with chemistry.
