PR VS. ARCO AB Calc Book

Which one is better? I am currently in acc trig/pre-calc and my teacher wants me to try to take the AB exam this year as practice since I will be taking BC next year. We touch on everything but integrals. So I need a good book for a semi self study.

Thanks

You mean the real AP Calc AB exam in May? Why on earth would you take it if you haven’t taken the class?

And integrals make up a full one-half of Calc AB. I also doubt you’ve done any work in applications of derivatives, if you’ve just “touched upon” it. I seriously recommend you don’t take the AB exam. You don’t need a 2 on your AP transcript.

But if you still want to go ahead with it, ARCO (Peterson’s) would be better for self-studying. I think it’s a bit more in-depth.

My teacher is the one who told me to do it and he gave me a calc book and he and my sister are going to help me which is far more help than most people who study on this site get.

bump. I really need help guys.

Thanks

I liked ARCO. You really have to know integrals, derivatives, concavity (min, max), infinite limits, and min and max problems.

If you haven’t paid for the test yet then don’t take it. I went from Precalc cp (went up to limits) to calc BC this year and IMO I’m doing pretty well (at least better than some people who took precalc honors or calc ab last year)

If you have paid for it, try to be more careful before you feed anymore money to collegeboard (you could’ve just bought a prep book and took an AB test from there instead of wasting 89 bucks). I would recommend the ARCO book. It does a phenomenal job of making calculus concepts incredibly easy (the chapter on Fundamental Theorem of Calculus helped me out a lot). My calc teacher says the PR book has ■■■■■■■■ questions but I have personally never used it so I can’t comment.

Thanks guys. I already paid for the test, well not really i got it for free. Ill get the arco book. Hey what do u guys think about the the spark notes power packs? bc they looked pretty good too.
