First time post so hope this goes well. My son was accepted to Pratt for film, he is looking for online substitutes for accepted students day where you get to meet your classmates. For example a Facebook page or Instagram? Has anyone found anything for Pratt? Thanks for any help with this!
@123mout i was just looking for something last night, but I havenât found anything. i was accepted for film as well so I guess I could maybe make a groupme if enough ppl r interested but idk how I would go about doing that
@laminator3, thanks for sharing your daughterâs stats! now you have me thinking. in your case, it probably has to do with her portfolio. she must have had an outstanding portfolio. this whole college admissions thing is a mystery. our household income is $289K and an EFC of 69,000. i know schools do consider income as a factor in admissions these days, especially private schools, although state schools are now accepting more out of state students if they donât have good public funding. iâm thinking the portfolio must be a huge factor in getting the scholarship
My D got an $18K scholarship and a $3500 grant, so that is $21,500 total. Are you guys adding the grants to the Presidential scholarship? I was told by a MICA admissions counselor That there was a limit to how much they could give for the Creative Visions awards, so they supplement that with grants, and that it all counts as the same award. I wonder if Pratt works the same way?
FYI - my daughter had a 4.0 GPA, and very strong portfolio (years of art and photography classes), but her SAT score was 1080 (test anxiety). I know that Pratt puts an emphasis on academics more than most art colleges, so she may not have received a top award. Her declared major is Photography.
@lrose121 no my daughter received a $27,000/year renewable presidential scholarship. No grants.
@lrose121 No grant for us. Son got 22K/year renewable presidential. Graphic design.
Thank you @mommek3 and @Graphitemovermom. Good to know. Best of luck to your daughter and son!
My son got his acceptance letter today for communication design in Prattmwp. Anyone attending Prattmwp? No information on the scholarship yet.
On a different note, considering the current covid-19 situation, we are concerned about safety and how things will pan out by September. Does anyone have any thoughts?
Is anyone else still waiting for RD? My BF is still waiting to hear. Fingers crossed!
My son received a grant of 15k, but no scholarship. We have written to the financial officer to review his portfolio for additional scholarships. Did anyone receive any scholarships after a request? Anyone attending Prattmwp for com design?
My son decided on Pratt Comm D (Graphic Design). It was a tough decision, but given that his scholarship for Pratt is guaranteed for the 4 years at 22K per year (maintaining 2.5 gpa), and heâd have to have a GPA of 3.7 or higher at PrattMWP by middle of sophomore year to get that same amount from Pratt for junior/senior year, I didnât want to risk it. Not that I donât expect him to do well, but we donât know what the standards are for achieving As and Bs there. Plus he can commute from home starting his second year at Pratt so we can save on housing. However, PrattMWP would have been more affordable that first year and probably safer right now, in terms of the covid-19 situation. Keeping my fingers crossed that weâre making the right decision.
Daughter officially committed to Pratt CommD illustration today. Thatâs a wrap!
I was wondering if anyone hasnât accepted their scholarship/financial aid yet online? I know I looked at it online after making the deposit but wanted to hold off on accepting the financial aid package because I wasnât sure if I wanted to take out the whole loan. Now that I go back to look, the link is gone. I hope there wasnât a deadline to accept the financial aid package. I canât find any deadline date anywhere. Only deadline was to pay deposit, which I did.
