Prayer Thread...for anyone/anyone's child that's nervous...

First off, I just want to say thanks to all you parents out there who have been there for me with advice and given me some (much needed) rude awakenings over the past seven or so months. Every bit helped, and kept me sane throughout this process.

This time of year is getting to be stressful for many of us seniors…it’s merit money season. I applied for the following scholarships, all of which I pretty much find out about this month and in early February, and could really use some extra prayers:

McNair Scholarship, U of South Carolina (full ride)

Pogue Scholarship, UNC-Chapel Hill (full ride)

Ingram Scholarship, Vanderbilt (full tuition)

Xavier Service Fellowship, Xavier U (OH) (full tuition)

Berry Scholars, U of Dayton (full tuition)

Presidential Scholarship, St. Louis U (full tuiton)

I really put a lot of effort into all of these and I’m getting sooo anxious and nervous about hearing back soon. If you happen to pray, I just ask you keep not only me in mind, but also the other seniors out there that really need merit aid in order to make college a reality next year.

Let’s just make this a thread for posting for anyone who’s worried/anxious/nervous about upcoming scholarships or college admissions or anything related. We’ll all bear each other in mind and hopefully share congratulations when the time comes. :)

Thanks again guys.
I’m just keeping my fingers crossed for now…

~GOB~

Do you really think it’s fair to pray for some kids to get things and not others? Shouldn’t scholarships go to the kids who most deserve them, not the Christian kids just because they prayed.

Who said GOB was a Christian? She may well be, but who said? Why that assumption?

RW, you asked,
Shouldn’t scholarships go to the kids who most deserve them, not the Christian kids just because they prayed.

That’s not what GOB said (or insinuated).
Quote from GOB:
If you happen to pray, I just ask you keep not only me in mind, but also the other seniors out there that really need merit aid in order to make college a reality next year.

I don’t think even God can come up with merit aid for every senior who really needs it…

Oh jeeeeeez. I can just delete this if people are gonna insinuate things.

I don’t even know what to say…
Just thought this would be a nice gesture and a place for people to talk about preparing to hear back on things and get all their nerves out and have some support.

Oy vey.

I’ll add a prayer for you GOB, and for all families who waiting anxiously for this news. It’s a favorite cause of mine anyways. Take care.

I think we can pray for all of you dears. The thing is, what you think you want might not be the best thing for you. Be open to other possibilities from the universe. We are thinking of you!

As a mom whose son’s most closely held college dream came true two years ago (complete with FA) and also someone who will never be able to adequately REPAY the overwhelming support and good wishes we received throughout his application process, I am most honored and delighted to pay it forward with prayers and good wishes for all of this year’s deserving kiddos! :)

GOB~

My best to you, now and always. May everything work out beautifully for you this spring!

~berurah

You’ve got a great chance for South Carolina and Xavier.

I prayed about college–for myself and for others. It WAS a big deal, especially in regards to getting the merit money, in terms of where life would go. Prayers and best wishes for the class of 2011.

GOB - you are in my thoughts and prayers - I can’t wait to find out where you are going to end up LOL  - after all your hard work :D

I’m just saying, it’s not about luck or miracles, it’s about having the right grades.

^^a little good karma and some positive vibes, however you want to label them, never hurt anyone… :)

GOB - prayers and positive/calming thoughts for you and this year’s graduates (and parents!)
