Pre-College details?

Sonlovesmt,

Of course your son can audition in the fall. Although the letter he will most likely receive with his evaluations will likely encourage it during the winter instead of the fall. I think they recommend waiting until the winter (if my memory serves me right) because they feel you have more time to work on his audition and the fall is so soon after they just saw him. My daughter was not accepted after pre-college but did audition again during the unifieds in NYC that winter. Glad that your son and everyone’s kids are loving pre-college so much. I know my daughter loved it too when she was there!

Kaysmom,
Thanks. The winter would make more sense. I was just thinking that all of this is going to start “for real” in the fall. I have read elsewhere that it is a good idea to get a few auditions under your belt on some schools that may not be your top choices.
My S feels he is learning so much and making a lot of friends in the process. I am really glad he is having this experience. I am sure he willl come back more confident.

This will definitely start “for real” for your son in the fall. Even if the auditions don’t start yet, the practicing, picking right pieces, applications, essays and all of that will definitely start.

For my daughter, she did some auditions in the fall because she definitely wanted to get some auditioning in before the holidays. It worked for her because she had a couple of acceptances before her winter auditions which definitely took some pressure off. Because she is always so busy, as all of our kids are, it helps too to spread those auditions out.
