Pre College Programs

First off, I am a public school student in midatlantic. I get straight A’s, president of several clubs, volunteer etc. Other than these items I am very interested in something to make me “stand out”. I am a sophmore so I still have a bit more time but am currently looking into various pre college programs at several colleges. I have heard everything from that they greatly increase chances for admission to they don’t carry any weight whatsoever. Thoughts?

Generally participants enjoy themselves – but they don’t increase attendees’ chances. And if by all means don’t go to any of these programs run by this company:

Pre-college programs on a college campus are cash cows for the colleges; they get $ by filling otherwise empty dorms. You may have an enjoyable time, learn a bit about what college life is like, and may learn something in the process. However, they will not increase your chances for admittance to university.
