Im in the army and have an interest in going to medical school. For the pre-med major does it have to be an assoc. or a bach? Where can i go to get MCAT material to study for the exam?

You need a bachelor’s to apply for med school.

MCAT prep books are available from a number of sources. Well known prep series books are produced by Kaplan, Princeton Review, Barron 's and Examkrackers.

There is one free practice exam available thru AMCAS (https://www.aamc.org/students/applying/mcat/preparing/85158/orderingpracticetests_mcat.html) and additional exams available for $15 each.

Both Kaplan and Princeton Review offer MCAT prep courses (not cheap! approx $3000). Courses can be taken in person or online.

Geez, when I read that my eyes almost popped out of my head haha - but then I checked and $3000 is for “small group” tutoring (i.e. less than 4 students) - if you take their classroom course with like 20-25 students, its $2000, which is still about twice what I paid years ago. (And I thought it was a rip-off back then)

I strongly recommend against the courses, unless you really know that you need someone lecturing at you to learn the material. Otherwise, its a waste of a lot of money. I should have dropped out and gotten a refund after the first week of my course, but I was too stubborn. The class didn’t help me in the least.
