Pre Med or IB?

Hello, everyone. I’m sorry if this is not in the right section; this is my second post ever on this forums; still getting acclimated to them. So, onto my question. I’m currently a senior in High School and plan on starting my college apps soon. I’ve decided to apply ED to UPenn (At Wharton) and if I get accepted, great (I’ll know what to do). What I’m deliberating on is weather to go with Investment Banking or becoming a Psychiatrist (which requires 4 years of college, then 4 of med school then a 3-4 year residency, I think.) The lifestyle of someone in IB appeals to me, but the subject of Psychiatry appeals to me, as well. So, if you had to choose, would you choose lifestyle or love for a subject/career.

Another question I have is, and sorry if it seems repetitive, does it matter which school you go for undergrad? I’ve heard a great deal of opinions and they seem to vary quite a bit; some say it does matter, while others say it doesn’t. Does it matter? Or does it not?

Thank you.

Nobody can tell you what you want to be, IB or psychiatrist. In regard to UG school, it does not matter for pre-med , it might matter for IB.

It DOES matter for IB and Wharton is a good choice. One of my son’s best friends is a Wharton grad in IB and is a recruiter for his firm…formerly Lehman Bros…now Barclay’s.

If you choose IB you won’t go wrong at Wharton…if you decide that IB is not for you, you can still take pre med requirements at Penn. You have to get in first…and admission to Wharton is a lot tougher than admission to Penn.

FYI…You can’t apply to both but you can transfer to Wharton after a highly successful first year at Penn which is what said friend did.

Good luck

Ahh, but MiamiDAP, I asked weather you would choose a lifestyle you like or a subject you like.

Thank you, Eadad.

Bump, I think.
