Is stanford notorious for its hard pre-med classes?

Quoting myself from your other thread:

On the whole, though, yes, it’s hard. Bio core kicks a lot of people’s butts until they get used to the pace. And orgo…it seems to be one of the classes people suck at or rock at. Basically, all these courses just take a lot of time.

What do you think about a computer science major and doing premed as well…i also would like to take foreign language classes and study abroad??? let me know what you think…thanks

ooh in Stanford is there a 6/7/8 year program? or is it like only 4 year pre-med than you go to Medical School? :)

There’s no 6/7/8 year program at Stanford

coolguy1120 you can do it but you have to start planning starting the summer before freshman year. fitting in computer science, pre-med AND study abroad won’t be easy to arrange into a four-year plan without killing yourself. Also Stanford has summer abroad programs (with internships) in berlin and Japan. Also, if you can’t fit study abroad in the academic year Stanford can help you with abroad programs outside of the school so always keep that option in mind for summer after freshman and sophomore years. good luck.

oh and when i said “killing yourself” i meant being tied up with what feels like 25 academic credits each quarter.

^I agree.

Look its definitely possible but the question that you should be asking yourself is: is it worth it? I mean there are enough premed classes for it to be considered another major and double majoring with CS is not easy. My advice: why are you doing premed? why are you doing cs? what do you want to do after you graduate? You don;t have to decide right now (in face I encourage you not to and to go into stanford with an open mind) but it would be a lot easier for you if you choose one over the other…

Doing premed and CS together would ruin your Stanford experience.

I’m a big proponent of studying whatever you want in undergrad no matter what you want to do with your life after school but this would be so much work I think it would overshadow any benefit you’d get from exploring different academic areas

do you have to complete all the medical school requirements before you can apply to med school?
