I know I’m sounding like I’m complaining much but my local community college has shut down their nursing program (for RN & LPN bridge). Close to finishing my prereqs and this quarter they shut it down. Looking at other community colleges most have been closed and some others require a lot more it’s frustrating. Have others experienced this in other states too?
Community colleges are struggling to meet new Nursing accreditation standards, clinical requirements and the trend away from RN-only to BSN programs. Renton Technical College hasn’t shut down their Nursing program; they are planning on accepting students to start in Spring 2017, provided they can make all the changes that will be required.
You haven’t finished your Nursing prerequisites yet, so the earliest you could have applied for admission would be January 2017. So, worse case scenario is that you would start 3 months later than you originally intended.
