i was thinking about doing one of those “wilderness reflections” pre-orientation trips. has any current cornellians done these in the past? what did you like/dislike about it? did you feel rushed getting back to campus for orientation or anything after the trip? anything input would be great
i’m thinking about either doing the mountain biking one or the canoeing one.

i really highly recommend going on some sort of pre-orientation thing. orientation itself is really overwhelming and it’s great to have a group of people to hang out with and have dinner with those first few days. I did not feel rushed at all and for WR, registration is just upstairs from where you return all your stuff from your trip. the only thing that I didn’t really like was having to leave home so early…but looking back it doesn’t really matter.

(ps i might be a little biased b/c i’m going to be a guide for WR this summer
)

So if we do go on a pre-orientation trip, do we bring our luggage?
If so, where is our luggage stored while we are on the trip?

yes you can bring your luggage. it will be stored on north campus during your trip and then you pick it up when you get back.

I’m going for the WR trip, but some of the forms have spaces for stuff like, “course name” or “trip number” and stuff like that. That’s stuff I should wait to hear about from the WR people before I send the form in right?

I did WR and it was awesome!

As for the forms, contact the people listed on the WR site- they’ll have the best answers to your questions about forms and technical things like that
