I am really interested in the program and was wondering what student’s experiences were. Also, (killing two birds with one stone) what were student’s experience with the learning disability services at SMU? Were they helpful?

I’m not a Pre Physical Therapy student, but that would fall under our Applied Physiology and Sport Management major which you can read more about here: http://www.smu.edu/Simmons/AreasOfStudy/APW/APSM_major. This website might shed some light on learning disabiliy services at SMU: <a href=“Disability Accommodations & Success Strategies - SMU (Southern Methodist University)”>http://www.smu.edu/Provost/ALEC/DASS. Sorry I don’t have personal experiences with either to help you out!

The ALEC and DASS can be extremely helpful to students with learning differences or even just those who need some additional support for a particular class. Most students have used the services of the ALEC at some point. The most important thing for students with learning differences on any college campus is to be prepared to advocate for yourself and for your needs. If you are willing to be an advocate for yourself and to work with DASS, professors will be accommodating and flexible.

The APSM program is excellent and takes advantage of outstanding faculty, a comprehensive curriculum and an amazing setting. With Dallas as the backdrop, a hub for business and sports (all the major franchises and close to 20 professional sports teams all together), as well as an extensive public and private health care system, this program sets students up for long term success.
