Hi, My daughter is a rising senior in high school (Class of 2025). She’s had a couple of pre-reads. She is interested in the University of Chicago. However, hasn’ t had a pre-read for them yet. Has anyone had a pre-read already?
Some Chicago coaches have sent pre-reads to admissions. Is your D in touch with the coach? If so, all she can do is continue to manage that relationship, ask where she stands in their recruiting prioritization, and go from there. Good luck.
We were told August for UChicago. We sent transcript info a few weeks back. Had a good call with coach. Time will tell. Maybe my D lower on their list.
Is August when they said the preread would be completed? We submitted transcripts and list of courses a couple of weeks ago but haven’t heard anything since then.
We understood it as AO didn’t start doing them until Aug 1.
For our sport, the coach said they wouldn’t be making any decisions until October. Does that mean we are low on the coaches’ list? He said some very positive things about kid’s ability and to keep him updated.
This is how some coaches roll. Your student/kid should ask the coach where they stand on the list.
He said he assumed my son would be getting offers and to keep him informed.
October is when Ivy League likely letters come out, if that means anything. For what it is worth, in my son’s sport it was often obvious when his ability exceeded the ability of a schools’s typical recruit. In that case, the coach was interested but not too much, since they believed there was a low probability they would go to their school. So, muted interest can mean they are low or too high on a coach’s interest list.
Football recruit '25. Submitted transcripts and scores mid June. Pre-read completed end of July and offered.
