Can you afford UVA, UNC, and UT at out-of-state rates with no aid? Do you have any safeties, like UC Irvine?
I have several safeties. the schools listed are just my top choices. Appreciate the response!
Getting a letter of rec request means that after your numbers were run through an algorithm that spits out yes, no, or maybe, you were placed in the maybe pile. All maybe applicants get asked for letters of rec. after they are submitted, the apps are read in their entirety and a decision is made.
I think @KingBibi has a pretty decent idea of what your chances are, ballpark. I think, though, that the predictions for UVA and UNC are a bit high – they’re pretty tough to get into as an OOS applicant, at least as hard as getting into Berkeley or UCLA in-state.
I think these schools are probably all high matches (25-40% chance on my scale…) or matches (40-60%)-- a semi-educated guess.
There are no safeties on this list, OP, so if you have not identified a true safety you both like and can afford, I suggest you do that.
Obviously, make sure you can afford them all – run NPC if you have doubts. And make sure your family is on board with the finances.
if you guys had to predict if i get in or not to the following schools what would you say
I think you’ll get in everywhere besides UVA and UNCCH. Those are really hard admits out of state.
I think you have a solid chance at Boston College (I got in EA with same SAT and UW GPA). And I hope you have a solid chance at UNC because I want to get in too :). I don’t know too much about the other schools though
@ap012199 what you you mean “you’ll get in everywhere ‘besides’ UVA and UNCCH.” Do you mean “except” UVA and UNC-Chapel Hill?
For UCB/UCLA: High Match definitely not a guarantee
Freshman admit rate for UC GPA of 4.20 or higher:
UCB: 46%
UCLA: 53%
Getting an LOR from UCB means you are in the maybe pile and they want more information to determine an acceptance/waitlist or rejection.
Good Luck.
Rejected by UT Austin. Does this change my outlook at all? does anyone think i will get in to at least one of these schools?
