I just thought this was interesting: I was accepted to Stanford EA. Yesterday I got my letter from Swarthmore and have been waitlisted (I know it’s an exclusive school but I was still a little surprised). I’m not terribly concerned about this since I was fairly certain I was headed to Stanford. The only other place I applied was Reed, they mail the letter on the first.
Any guesses as to the outcome of that one?

Hmmm, interesting question. Reed is certainly more like Swarthmore than like Stanford. Both Reed and Swarthmore are very intellectual schools, with especially high future PhD rates. But beyond that, Reed is mostly about fit, so there’s no predicting without more info, and even that might not help. If Reed accepts you, I’d go with the school that best matches your interests, plans and personality. Both are top schools, and many Reed graduates attend Stanford grad schools.
