Preference of ACTs?

The Fiske Guide says that Missouri prefers the ACT over the SAT. I currently have a 1250 math and verbal score (Mizzou doesn’t consider the writing score if I’m not mistaken), although I expect that to go up when I take it again in March, and I was wondering how much of a factor SAT and ACT is. I know that a 1280 SAT score guarantees admission into the J-school, and I expect to eventually reach that, but should I take the ACT to be safe, or is it unnecessary?

My son took the SAT only and was admitted to the J-school. I don’t think Mizzou really cares. Just choose the test you prefer and feel you will do best on. It sounds like you should be able to get your score up over 1280 with some practice. (I’m not very familiar with the ACT, so can’t advise on that.)

Thanks for the response geezermom. I felt that way too but wanted to make sure that only taking the ACT wouldn’t significantly affect me.
