Pregnant Sudanese woman sentenced to death for refusing to renounce her Christian faith

Christian woman in Sudan sentenced to death for her faith - CNN;

I hope international pressure will stop this travesty. What a horrible story. This is against international law, and I hope whomever gives Sudan international aid or trades with them, stops doing so.

It is unfortunate that in this country, the “religion of peace” is so insecure in their followers that they feel they must execute those will not fall in line.

Inhuman. Will any country come to her aid, or grant her asylum? It’s still the Middle Ages in some countries.

"The court also convicted her of adultery and sentenced her to 100 lashes because her marriage to a Christian man is considered void under Sharia law.

The court gave her until Thursday to recant her Christian faith – something she refused to do, according to her lawyer.

During Thursday’s sentencing hearing, a sheikh told the court “how dangerous a crime like this is to Islam and the Islamic community,” said attorney Mohamed Jar Elnabi, who’s representing Ibrahim."

Unbelievable…

Alarming on so many levels and ignored by too many

I’ve been following this. It’s very very troubling.

This should remind us to be thankful for our freedom to believe or not believe without government retribution.

This is just awful. It’s hard to sit and read this knowing the suffering she and her family are enduring. It’s so inhumane.

Yes, very troubling! It shocks me this can happen in 2014.

The US would, if it had leadership with the backbone to standup to such people. But, obviously, we don’t! Maybe the US might find some backbone for this, but I would not hold my breathe.

Why isn’t there a big twitter campaign for this woman?

^^ OK, that must be sarcastic.

even if a country offer her asylum I don’t think those crazies would release her and let her go.

this is happening in 2014 because those people are living like it is the eighth century.

I’m assuming that is sarcastic, and that’s a good one.

Agreed that granting asylum is not the end-game. However, a strong US president would use the denial of foreign aid and important European ties to get the message across that there would be a serious price to pay, and can stop this. To do nothing high profile and very publicly is appeasement. I am definitely hoping that I am pleasantly surprised.

Wouldn’t you think, awcntdb? I’m not holding my breath. But I’m hoping that something significant happens, this kind of thing should not be supported by us, which is what we are doing by not saying or doing a thing. But I am hoping I will be pleasantly surprised also.

This woman has a right to her beliefs, her life, and to be with her family in peace.

I’m hoping we, as a nation, will be vocally outraged on behalf of this poor woman now, and that she is spared from any more harm.

i agree…^^^

the entire sane world needs to express outrage.

and where is the UN on this? some of the countries that they have on Human Rights panels (or whatever they call them) are the worst on Human Rights.

Rather than taking the bizarre yet it some quarters predicable tack of blaming this on our President, I’m compelled to wonder what the Brandeis students who were motivated to complain about Ayaan Hirsi Ali on behalf of their religion are doing about it.

I dont blame any US president. We can only do so much. But whatever we can do as a country, needs to be done. can congress do anything? withhold funds or something?

how about we threaten a strategic pork-shower attack on those who would carry out any punishment. lol (just kidding, but wouldn’t that a put a fear into some of these crazies.)

.>>
Plagued by Islamic terrorists in the southern Philippines, U.S. Army General John “Blackjack” Pershing’s troops captured six Muslim guerrillas in 1911. “You’ll never see Paradise,” one officer told the militants before five of them were shot with bullets dipped in pig fat and later shrouded in pigskins and buried among pork entrails. The surviving terrorist was allowed to escape, whereupon he told his comrades what he witnessed. The jihad stopped immediately, and peace prevailed for years.

at a minimum, we should declare that any muslim suicide terrorist on our soil will be buried with pork.
