Premed at Trinity

Planning Premed route in Trinity. How is Trinity for PreMed compare to other state colleges like UT or TAMU or UTD ?

No first hand knowledge, but Trinity reports a 90% placement for those with a 3.6 gpa which seems pretty good.

Looks fairly organized, but not sure how it compares to your other options.

Key is to find the school that lets you academically succeed and limit debt. If these options are all equal in that regard, I would pick trinity just because I’d rather compete with 2500 for attention and shadowing instead of 30-50k kids.

My daughter is a sophomore and two of her roommates are aiming for medical school. The Intro to Chem class freshman year is killer apparently and weeded out several students pretty early, but both girls are having a good experience so far.

One of the roommates received an A+ in Organic Chemistry this past term and her professor sent her a long email about how he doesn’t think anyone has ever gotten an A+ before. So the relationships are good, I don’t think she would have received an email like that at UT. I have heard that STEM at Trinity is tough though.

Thank you. Just wondering if medical doesn’t work out at the end of 4 years for pre-med. How the prospects are getting into masters or something else ?

Any information does Trinity consider AP/IB credits?

Here’s a link for AP credits.

Just a thought, UTSA just fully merged with the UT-Health Science Center, which means there’s a possible favorability fast track from UTSA premed students. And it’s a heck of a lot cheaper than Trinity.
