premed science GPA

for premed, would any class from the biology department count towards the science GPA? for example, there is a class titled Bio 25, which is Ocean Dynamics.

Bio 25 is Principles of Biology, Bio 53 is the Dynamic Oceans and what do you mean by science GPA? I wasn’t aware that Duke calculated anything but the cumulative GPA.

sorry, i meant bio 53. Duke should give both a science GPA and non-science GPA

yhspride2007 - you are referring to the BCPM GPA that med schools look at. Basically any course in the biology, chemistry, physics, or department is included in it, along with courses in some other Duke departments (e.g. pharmacology, biological anthropology, statistics). Applied science (e.g. engineering) and most non-basic sciences (e.g. earth/ocean sciences, environmental science) do not count.
