Prep for Jan. 26 SAT US History

Is anyone here studying for SAT US History right now after a class in US History? I am coming to close on AP US History, for the class ends on Jan. 15 (our APs are only one semester long) and am preparing for SAT US History.

I am finishing up some readings from AMSCO, ordered those AP US History Sparknotes flashcards, and will go over some Pageant chapter reviews I think.

So, what are you doing to prep for the Jan. 26 exam?

Probably take two or three practice tests and read up on some matters I’m not too familiar with.

Don’t go nuts, for goodness sake.

golly u covered ap us history in one semester? u either have a REALLY super duper teacher or else u wont be prepared…

anyways i took a full year of ap us history and didnt do so well on the ap test so i studied some on my own and did super on my sat

Actually, my teacher for AP US History is only in her second year of AP teaching. She is fairly lackluster; however, I don’t believe you can really “teach” history.

It is more of along the lines of:

“Did you read it?”
“Yes.”
“Did you understand it?”
“Yes.”
“Good.”

Budget cuts have demanded one-semester AP courses, if you are curious.

My AP US History even told me that if I make a 5 on the AP exam it will have nothing to do with what she did in class. How funny, I thought.

I really don’t understand why people complain about AP US History being a semester long. I mean, it is only a semester long at most universities, granted, universities do tend to grant six hours of credit for it. The material is easily covered in one semester. More students just need that last semester to cover DBQ skills and other writing techniques.

For anyone’s information, I am taking Western Civilizations I and II as a six-hour/dual credit course in one semester come January at my local university (not a community college.) This particular university only offers US History and Western Civ as dual-credit/six hour courses in one semester.

i took ap us history as a junior, and i am now a senior. i took it in november but wasnt happy with my score (680) so i am going to retake.

Even though I don’t plan on applying to HYP next fall, I am shooting for 750+ just because I love the subject so much.

I refuse to retake the exam on the grounds that is freaking $28. I will make 750+ and be happy, or make lower and be satisfied. I can’t believe I actually pay to take tests now. Mind you, my mom doesn’t pay for all of this. It is just me, so. :(

yeah, i dont NEED to retake, but i was pretty unhappy with all three of my sat subject scores. i had a 670, 670, 680. i made the mistake of not taking the subject tests right after i had finished with the classes. i shouldnt have waited until november.

lol i barely broke the 750 but although my score was my lowest sat 2, my percentile was the highest i guess because the test asks so many random friggin questions

but quick…who wrote the declaration of independence?
a george washington
b ben franklin
c thomas jefferson
d bill clinton
e monica lewinksy

yeah, there are some random questions.
