Prep-School Hooks...do they exist?

I’ve been wondering…
do Ivy League Admissions Staffs really look upon applicants coming from such prestigious schools as Phillips Exeter Academy, Phillips Andover, Hotchkiss, Deerfield, etc. with more acceptance than those who are coming from say…your average public high school…or is that just a myth?
Please, any enlightenment on this topic would help, thanks.

I’m not sure what you mean about “acceptance” but definitely, seemingly “low” GPAs will be taken into consideration. Ask to look at your school’s naviance and you’ll see what I mean

BUT there are also many more development/legacy applicants at top schools which may account for lower GPAs and higher % acceptance rates

ALL high schools send in a “school profile” report when the secondary school report is sent. This puts every applicant in a pretty even playing field.
