prepparent nailed it right

For those of you who can visit, it is very important. A school may look like the perfect fit on paper but just feel wrong when you visit. Another school may not have the matrics and name recognition you want, but will just feel right when you visit. Like shopping for a dress or a suit – many are available, but only a few will bring out the best in you.

When I went to Choate, I got the best feeling about it.
I completely fell in love with it when I was walking around the campus.

I didn’t have the same feeling at Andover or Deerfield.
Should I trust that gut feeling, or concrete information?

It depends on what you mean by concrete information. Yes if is is the EC you want to do, the sports programs, the courses offered and arts facilities etc…Perhaps No if you are referring to college admissions data, SAT averages or endowmnet per student etc…as concrete data. All top 10 - 15 schools are very, very good and I believe the choice should be where you feel the most comfortable.

Choate has more acting classes that I like and possibly more interesting English courses.

I let my S make the decision based on his gut feeling despite my personal reservations and my preference for Deerfield and Hotchkiss but it’s working out great since I think the best boarding school is where you are happy, doing your best and getting the most out of what it has to offer

Gut is quite appropriate. Your’e going to spend 4 years at a school, you should be happy. There’s no better way.

Now if your gut feeling say’s I should go to a junior college over Harvard, the gut may need checking. But you’re dealing with some nice schools.

actually u are wrong…of course i would go to a junior college over harvard!! XP

www.harvardsucks.org …click on the video in the middle…you will laugh your ass off at the end i swear

Good. Unless you work for CC ,a sane parent warning kids to be careful about internet use will win out everytime.

francis as a parent I certainly share your concerns in protecting our children from cyber predators. I attempted to explain my motives in a pm to you, and you responded by accusing me of being on “that” show on msnbc (a predator). If you have made that accusation purely by the number of post I have made, I challenge you to read my posts and you will find not one iota of evidence that I might be some predator. Not one iota. I applaud you for your concern for our children and I stand by you on this. Please, check my posts, then maybe you’ll see my real motives. In the mean time I remained stunned by your accusations.

for those of you who have access to prepreview.com (i think someone does, seeing as the rankings were posted here)- where does regis high school, princeton high school, and stuyvesant hs rank? (my little brother might apply to all of these depending on his ssat’s)
thanks a lot to whoever has access

How do you apply to Princeton High School?
It is the public high school for Princeton. Students from Cranbury NJ also attend thru an arrangement Cranbury made with Princeton about 15 years ago.

no. you are definitely right. i was referring to stuy. maybe he would apply to these and collegiate as well, but i was wondering how stuy, princeton, and regis rank at this website. (the website doesn’t let you see the rankings).

I Posted the prepreview for boarding schools. Sorry I do not have the public school ranks. Actually I was not aware that prepreview ranked the publics.

no problem… do you have access to this page:
http://www.prepreview.com/english/us/rank/us_day.htm
(Top American College Preparatory Private Day School Ranking)
If you don’t, that is fine. Probably these rankings won’t affect his decision.
thanks.

sorry, I have the older one. Claas08, sorry but I don’t have the old one either. I realized that this was pprep day schools as opposed to the boarding school list.

What about the Westminster School in Simsbury CT
where do they fit with all of the top prep schools

They don’t…
