Preparing my admissions for 2013

Im currently in the Marine Corps, and get out in October, so I will be applying for 2013.

I’ll be applying to California schools exclusively. Heres my list:

-UCLA
-USC
-UC Berkeley
-UC Davis
-CSU Long Beach
-CSU Chico

Im trying to plan out my roadmap to success. I’ve just finished my first essay, and brainstorming my second. Mind you for the past 9 months ive written at least 4 that I wasnt satisfied with. I plan to have these sent into Essay Edge to be professionally editted. I also signed up for Princeton Review SAT prep, and will be taking the SATs on Jun 2nd.

I still need to get to work on getting letters of recommendation. Other than that, what else am I missing? Im guessing Application submission for fall 2013 will begin in November, so I have a bit of time, but I will not squander it.

Check the deadlines carefully and don’t wait to start until November! The common app goes live in August and USC uses that. The UC’s and CSU’s use their own app. It is usually up in early October and UC apps are due very early November.

You may also want to take the ACT in addition to the SAT. Some students do better on one test or the other. There is a May date this spring you could still sign up for.

P.S. – Run financial aid calculators (on each school site) now to see how much each school will cost and see if financially they make sense for you.

Best of luck to you!
