Preparing to Murder the SAT

I am a juinor in highschool, and I have given up on the ACT, I was able to score a 25 on it with out studying, and I have decided that now I will actualy study very hard for a college entrance test, and I have decided to go with the SAT because suposidly you can get more out of it when you study for it.

I am thinking about waiting for this book here to come out, and to study for the october SAT, which would leave me 2 months to get ready, or should will i be just as well using an older version of the book?
[Amazon.com: The Official SAT Study Guide, 2nd edition: The College Board: Books](http://www.amazon.com/Official-SAT-Study-Guide-2nd/dp/0874478529/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1240324243&sr=1-6)

I am looking to get an act equivlent of 30, with a 26 equivelent in the mathimatics section. So I ask, can it be done?

If you are really determined,of course!

Totally! Don’t expect to go from a 25 ACT to a 2400 SAT, but you absolutely could get a 2000+ with studying.

yes, (that is of course) if you try to do so

Thanks, and my question about the book, should I wait for the new book to come out this july?

There’s really no need to wait for the new BB, since 7 of the tests will be the same as the current ones anyway. If you think you need a lot of preparation, though, it may be wise to wait until October, although I’d advise taking it at least once during your junior year if possible.

I don’t think it’s official that some of the tests will be the same as the current ones, but definitely go for the current book. The sooner you get the book, the sooner you’ll be able to start studying. And when the new book comes out and people are told if most of the tests are the same, you could always decide to get the new book as well.

According to Amazon:

I’m assuming that means the other 7 are not new.

wha? when did this come out? :open_mouth: wakes up rapidly

I am in the same dilemma, my GPA is strong enough(4.54), but my SAT scores which I have taken once in March only give me a 1680.

Hm…I think they just updated that. Checked two days ago and did not see much on the page. I guess it could mean that the 3 were official tests, but we’ll see…or maybe I’ll email TCB about it sometime.

So what is the verdict? Do I need to wait till the new book comes out, or should I go ahead any buy a book now, and then possibly be studying outdated materail?

You don’t need to wait. There’s nothing “outdated” in the current BB - nothing about the test has changed.

I hate to break it to you, but the ACT is far more “studyable” than the SAT, in addition to being a bit easier.

housecat1234, personally, I don’t think the ACT’s easier,
the Reading section on the ACT brings my score down DRAMATICALLY!!!
I could have a 33 composite,but b/c of reading,I got 28,(can you imagine how low it is?)

I found the SAT’s Critical Reading section a bit easier
