Prerequisites: One semester of calculus?

Hi, I’m an incoming freshman student and I just finished my Phase II of Telebears appointment. For one of my classes, I took Stats 20, and it says the prerequisite is one semester of calculus. Does this mean that I need to take one semester of Calculus course IN Berkeley before I take the Stats course or taking AP Calculus course way back in High School good enough? Telebears didn’t tell me anything when I was adding this Stats course, so I hope it’s all good. I would really hate it if they tell me I can’t take the stats course because I didn’t take a calculus course in Berkeley.

P.S. I signed up for Scandinavian R5B for the second R & C requirement. I’m #4 in waiting list and the total number of students they accept are 17. Is it likely that I’m going to be able to get in?

AP Calc with a good score is considered the equivalent of taking Calc, so you are fine with the pre-req. Assume you rmember it a bit too.

Probably not on the R&C - German and Scandanavian are rumored to be the best/easiest of them thus almost nobody ever drops. Being #1 would be iffy, #4 would require a major miracle.

damn, and I thought I had a high chance as #4 … thx for the quick reply, friend.

Regarding the prerequisite for STATS 20, they don’t really care/check whether you’ve taken a semester of calculus. It is only advised that you have a certain foundation of calculus and you are free to enroll in the class.

Source: taking STATS 21 next semester, been hearing from everyone/everywhere that prerequisites are only advised.

Stay on the waitlist for Scandinavian. When I took German R5A in Fall 2010, my teacher (grad student) allowed 5 extra kids to take the class off the waitlist, even though no one dropped. There is still hope.
