Pres. Bush Makes Clintons Rich

[Clintons report $109 million in income over eight years - MarketWatch](<a href=“Clintons report $109 million in income during decade - MarketWatch”>Clintons report $109 million in income during decade - MarketWatch)

The Clintons made the Clintons rich. However, President Bush kindly took care of them tax-wise.

$33.8 Million seems like PLENTY of taxes to pay.

can you imagine paying $34 million to the IRS

Can you imagine earning $109 million – even over an entire lifetime!!!

That might even be more than Cheney. Who certainly wasn’t in bad shape.

Tom Cruise made that from a few movies. Mel Gibson made double that from one.

No wonder all those poor uneducated voters in Pennsylvania can relate to Hillary so well.

She has the exact same economic situation that they do… :D

I used to live right down the street from her house in Park Ridge, IL. It’s very normal middleclass in a very average town. She’s no Kennedy/Bush either.

This is New wealth. I don’t think she has lived in Illinois for awhile. How could she? She’s a New Yorker.

I’m assuming you mean the house in which she grew up, barrons. How is that relevant to her current financial fortunes? It does indeed boggle the mind that one can pay 33.8 million in taxes—that one actually has it to pay:eek:

ANd another 70 million left over to soften the blow…

They also gave about 10 million in charity.

Over half came from Bill’s speaking fees. Like it or not, there were people willing to pay big bucks to hear him.

That is for an 8 year period. So, that’s more like $13 million a year with about $4 million a year of that going to taxes.

Of course there will be some that don’t believe that anyone should, deserves, or needs that much money. That of course is envy and jealousy. Unless of course it’s one of our heroes like Oprah is currently worth $1.9 BILLION!!!

Well…this is CC after all…do you suppose they could send me some of that excess income to help pay the college loans back?? (note, I’m not even asking for what I have paid out of pocket…just my kids’ loans). Ha.

Do you think Chelsea got any merit awards from Stanford? ;)

That’s 109 million in income over that seven year period. But what’s their net worth, I wonder? What are their investments yielding? Do you think they have as much money as Ted Kennedy? I’m guessing, probably not.

BTW Razor, what do you mean when you said, “President Bush makes Clintons Rich”?

I’d be more interested in knowing who or what they got their money from than how much. Who paid Bill to speak? What is their money invested in?

I will also never understand why someone who has made 109 million in that number of years has to have a mortgage on a house.

I have read thread after thread on this board saying how President Bush is responsible for jobs being outsourced and lost and for the disparity between the rich and poor and how he is only interested in the rich. It should be obvious that if Pres. Bush is responsible for all of those things, certainly he is responsible for the Clintons being rich. I mean, after all, if President Bush did not exist, what would President Clinton have to talk about to earn his outrageous fees?

One main advantage of having a mortgage is because of the tax deductions for interest on your loan. If you can make more interest on investments than you are paying on the interest for a mortgage, then it makes sense to use the mortgage to write off on taxes and invest the money in other areas instead of paying off your mortgage. Basic finances.

I’m curious to see where this topic is going to go. There are a lot of people who are envious of those who have more than they do. And if it’s a politician; then they must have stolen it from the citizens. Athletes don’t deserve the money they make. etc… For some reason however, it seems that actors/actresses get a pass on this. Most people don’t seem to mind that they make mega millions each time they do a movie or their talk show or sitcom is on tv. Then of course there’s people that feel that somehow they should be given money from these people. Either directly or via the government. I guess if we lived in a communist society which was classless in nature and everyone pooled all resources to be shared equally, that would be good. But then instead of just some lazy people wanting a handout, no one would have the initiative to work hard and improve society.
