<p>Well, I guess we can see why Hillary was not eager to release her tax returns. Even though there’s no reason to think that any of the money was not legitimately earned, and even though every ex-president makes similar money, and even though they gave almost 10% to charity (a larger percentage than most Americans), still we see people piling on her like there is something wrong with it, and even trying to suggest that there is something crooked about their charitable foundation. I can’t blame her for not wanting to release the returns. I mean, I prefer Obama, but Hillary can’t get a break.</p>
<p>I think if she had released them a long time ago when nobody cared it wouldn’t be an issue now. But the fact that she practically had to be forced to makes people that much more curious as to what she’s trying to hide. Once someone has lied, stretched the truth, or “misspoken” people tend to question everything else they say. I want a president I can trust.</p>

<p>OTHER POSTER: As far as trusting Hillary; are you saying you can’t trust her? What has she done that makes you not trust her? Personally, I wish that candidates didn’t have to release their tax records at all. If they’ve done something illegal, then the IRS can bust them just like the rest of us. I am so sick and tired of class warfare and the democrat’s ability to make anyone with money appear evil. So what if the Clintons and McCain’s are worth $100 million or more; so what? There isn’t one reason to even be discussing it. Not unless your a communist and believe that everyone should make the same amount and that we should all share. If you believe that, then we have nothing to talk about anyway. </p>
<p>There isn’t 1 able bodied person in this country that can’t be worth $100 million. The reason they aren’t is either because they are ignorant and don’t know how to become that wealthy and don’t have the drive; or they are too lazy. I will never be worth $100 million. I’m pretty sure of that. Mostly because of the lack of drive. I will however have a few million. When people say that someone else “doesn’t need that much money”; or is “overpaid”; etc… they are just selfish, greedy, and lazy. I’ve met people who knew and/or met wealthy individuals. Their whole attitude was to learn from these people. They didn’t want a handout. They weren’t jealous or envious. They admired them. They wanted to learn from them so maybe someday they too could be that wealthy. I have the utmost respect for these people.</p>
<p>There’s 3 types of extreme wealth. Old money; Kennedy’s, Hilton, etc… They pass their money down from generations. New Money; Bill Gates, CEO’s, etc… Works his butt off and earns every bit of it. The 3rd are the celebrities: These are your musicians, actors, athletes, talk show hosts, ex-president, etc… They are being paid because they are a celebrity. </p>
<p>There isn’t anything wrong with any of this money. Probably the worst is the old money. That’s because people like Ted Kennedy has no idea what it’s like to work. No idea what it’s like to be middle class. He has no perception of the average person. The other 2 groups probably have been on the other side. Either way, there’s nothing wrong with any of this money. The only thing wrong is when someone is so jealous that they believe that the person doesn’t deserve it and that somehow they do. Worse yet, that they think some of that money should be taken away and given to others. That is what’s wrong. I will not feel guilty at all leaving my children a lot of money. I know they are wise enough not to squander it. I know they will let it grow into even more and combine it with the money they’ve worked hard for, They will enjoy their life and not have to work until they are 65-70. I will be done working in my 50’s. I’m doing my part to lower unemployment. I’m opening another job for someone else.</p>

If you know for a fact that they have gotten their money illegally, then produce the proof and have them prosecuted. If not, then their income and your opinion of their net worth is totally irrelevant to the conversation.</p>

<p>For the north side Chicago suburbs $100,000 is very average. Many towns are much higher–the really wealthy ones like Winnetka etc. In Chicago a married teacher and a cop easily make $100k a year. You do know that incomes around major cities are higher, don’t you?? $100K around Chicago is like making $50k in Spokane.</p>
