Present PhD student regrets not attending Ohio State for undergrad. Long rant post

Thank you. I’ll be honest and state I’m still questioning the ethics of what I’ve done but I’m working with this program and my current therapist on this.

May you trust your therapist, find peace, & let go of the past, & forgive yourself as you would forgive a friend with kindness and mercy.

You’ve done it. You can’t change it.

Be better - live a great life.

You aren’t the first…or last…that’s erred. Every one of us has.

You got this…tomorrow…not yesterday.

The past is past.

Good luck.

I know I can’t change it but I believe I need to repay for the screw up I’ve done by telling admissions at my Master’s school and Ph.D school what happened exactly.

I get that the Master’s program director already pointed out my mistake calling my research assistant experience “investigator experience” and that was pointed out but still.

I have heard it said that there are two types of old people. Ones who have regrets, and ones who weren’t paying attention.

We all make mistakes. We mostly get over it.

And in some cases we get lucky, like the bad car accident that I should have caused that the other guy got out of the way and the accident never happened (and a couple more where I got out of the way at the last instant and the accident never happened). If we are paying attention, we learn to be more careful next time. I guess that I made amends for the first accident that didn’t happen by paying careful attention (over many years) and preventing the other two. We each do what we can. None of us are perfect.

This post definitely resonates with me so I’m glad you shared it in this case. I’ve made way too many mistakes to count for sure.

I know I’m not perfect as well, but I’ve definitely misrepresented myself and that’s something I really have a hard time letting go.
