I just got an email that I was admitted to drake university, which is awesome! I also received a presidential scholarship (30k/year),with a tuitions guarantee. I was wondering, if they give out presidential scholarships to all admitted students, just with varying amounts? I have heard that a presidential scholarship is pretty rare in the US, and I was so surprised when I got it. And, is this type of scholarship unconditional (i mean, if i bomb my IB exams, will i still have it or will they take it away. im predicted 42/45 and I will most likely not get it).
The rarity a presidential scholarship depends on the school. At some schools they are quite common.
At Drake, the average merit scholarship is $28,991/yr. So yes, you got a pretty typical amount.
(The place to look this up is in each school’s Common Data Set. Google “CDS + [University name]” and then look in H2A subsection O, column 1

Why worry - you got one 
Of 638 students in the first year, 160 students that didn’t get any need aid - got merit - on average $28,991. 447 got a need based scholarship.
I can’t do all the math - it’s tricky - but Drake is a fine school but second tier/third tier schools often have to discount their price to fill a class. And right on their web page they note 100% do get scholarships of some sort.
But so what - that’s to your benefit!! It doesn’t make the school better or worse academically.
You started with Wagner; now onto Drake. Find affordable. These are all very good schools.
Drake appears to have many scholarships and yes, all earn one.
