Congrats @h8annah! Has anyone else received a PS interview invite? Wondering if all invites have been sent?
A friend’s D received PS invite. No notice about Hunt, though they are the same weekend, so I think it’s one of the other, not both.

My head says that my D is now out of the running, but my heart hopes that they will still send out more invitation emails over the coming days.
An SMU PS thread from 2019 stated that they send the emails out over the course of the last couple weeks in Feb. I’m hoping that is true for 2020.
I called. They said all invitations went out yesterday. Those not invited will not be sent an email letting them know they were not selected. I understand not everyone can be chosen for an interview. However, these kids were invited to apply and worked hard on those supplemental essays. I think they deserve the curtesy and dignity of an email letting them know they were not selected.
Guess not selected for PS…can cross SMU off the list…was Provost and BBA Scholar recipient.

Guess that’s all folks. I wonder how many they “invite” to apply such that they have so many denials they can’t direclty notify candidates who aren’t invited to interview. Would help if there was better clarity on what it being sought in a PS to narrow the initial applicant pool. Good way to though to increase “investment in the acceptance” by non PSs so they attend anyway and maximize their yield. Shrewd pricing indeed.
@cardsin20 the whole “invitation” to apply thing was a little weird. SMU says there’s no separate application for the PS, so I’m not sure why they sent that out. I wonder if they sent it to everyone who applied early, since everyone is considered for the scholarship?
I agree @cardsin20. It’s very disappointing that SMU is only sending emails to students selected for Presidential Scholar interviews. I think it’s a fair assumption that students “invited” to apply for the Presidential Scholarship are strong students who are well suited for SMU. A simple “thank you for applying, but we are not able to offer you an interview” is common courtesy – especially after inviting students to apply and requiring additional writing submissions from them. As an SMU alum, I am disappointed that SMU is dismissing these high achieving students without any followup.
@charlotte02 appreciate your feedback. I put alot of hours over break into the additional essay prompts for PS; hope other alumns express to the admin what a flawed process this is (for the potential student anyway). Left now to compare several offers with about the same $35K net cost after the “everybody gets a discount” scholarships. The red letter admittance envelope was impressive though. Finding the same at most top schools I applied (USC actually rejects a couple thousand applicants a year outright with 4.0s and top 1% test scores). For those of you entering HS those stuco and yearbook roles really matter - outside activities less important no matter the academic record. Do something that stands out and gets attention - that’s what PS and Hunt are designed for.

Anybody else selected as a finalist? I feel like I’m the only one on CC right now, and I’d love to talk about it wih someone !! 
I was selected as a finalist! Anyway, I’m super nervous because I usually am TERRIBLE at interviews, much more terrible when there are academic topics I need to discuss AHH. Does anyone have any tips for the interview or know what other people have said in the past about the interview process? What exactly do they mean when they say academic topics?
I could use all the help I can get because interviews scare me to death and I need to be as prepared as possible.

Congratulations @h8annah. After all of those rejections, you received a good news. College admissions are unpredictable. Are you taking it or have another offer?
Congratulations @h8annah you seem like a very proactive person and SMU probably picked you because they’re confident you’ll leave a lasting legacy. PS is an amazing honor and fabulous program. Embrace it and do your thing! #ponyup
