<p>So I was looking at a professor’s CV to see how well-known she is. Turns out her publication rate is pretty poor in comparison to a few others I was looking at, but she has served on a decent amount of committees. She is fairly young, but the only things she’s listed in her Awards section since becoming a professor are previous positions as Visiting Fellows. The other profs I was looking have never been Visiting Fellows. But they have been invited for talks and presentations, where as this prof hasn’t. Whats considered more of an accomplishment?</p>
<p>Visiting fellow is usually an early-career position that pays a bit better than a postdoc but is not tenure track. This is not always the case, however. For example, professors on sabbatical may choose to work at another institution for awhile and may take on a similar title.</p>
