prestigious awards?

I really want to follow in my father’s (and grandfather’s) footsteps by going to Harvard Law… and I know that it is quite the high reach, but I’m very willing to immerse myself into anything and everything that it takes to reach that goal.

The problem is… I live in a town with a population of 1,000, so you can imagine how many different opportunities I’m given.

Anyway, I want to apply for some national awards or contests that would make me stand out.

A girl in my grade is applying for the Congressional Award which I know is quite prestigious… anyone know of any others? Or ideas of what else I could do that would give me some credibility in such a small town?

(I’m a sophomore by the way.)

I don’t know a whole lot about humanities awards, but try to get into the telluride association summer program next year.

Apply to US Senate Youth. Try to be a Senate Page. Those are things that don’t really require any amazing math/bio/chem/physics/research skills. TASP is for generally amazing people and was a really good experience.

Try the Clark Scholars program if you’re interested about research outside science and math. There’s a thread about it in the Summer Programs forum. It’s a great program.
