Prestigious Debate Programs with NCFCA.

Hello, all,

I was curious whether or not the summer debate institutes offered by the top tier universities to high school students such as Dartmouth Debate Institute, University of Michigan 7-week, Stanford National Forensics Institute, etc. train home-schooled debaters competing on the National Christian Forensics and Communications Association league. Do those programs only train debaters who will compete on the National Forensics League?

If not, does that mean that the NCFCA is not as prestigious as NFL? If so, are there any ways that a home-schooled student can participate on the NFL?

Thank you,
Aadnub

These camps really won’t help you that much. Your resolutions are different. What type of debate is NCFCA? What arguments are normally run? I would say it’s a huge waste of money.

NCFCA has team policy, Lincoln-Douglas, and regular speech events, but it is for home-schooled students. It has different resolutions than NFL though. Past team policy resolutions have included: Resolved: That the United States should reform or abolish NATO, Resolved: That the United States should significantly reform its policy toward India, etc.

Does that mean that those debate programs only research NFL’s resolution?

What are the most prestigious NCFCA camps then for team policy?

Yes, they do only research NFL topics, but the drills and skills should be applicable to NCFCA. I don’t know any camps, sorry. However, google is a nice tool  I tried it and by my first search I found 20 ish camps.
