At large state school now, want to transfer into smaller college near a city environment. Ideas of prestigious college that isn’t impossible to get into?
The more prestigious, the harder it is to get into.
@TomSrOfBoston I know, I was waitlisted at Georgetown senior year, wondering if I applied now as transfer I would have a better shot at getting in.
College GPA?
@TomSrOfBoston That’s the thing. I have a weird circumstance for transferring. I found out I have mono and another serious health issue in which my Dr thinks I should take a semester off. So since I am a freshman now I will be taking spring semester off for doc appts and such. That said, due to the health issues my grades are not as stellar as I was hoping so that is why I am so concerned about the college I will attend come Fall 2017. HS stats-4.2 gpa, IB diploma, 29 ACT. But my first semester college grades- C,B,B,B,A.
I currently attend Penn State Smeal College of biz but am looking for smaller college near the city…I was thinking something like Santa Clara, BC, Fordham. Tulane or WF down south. I know people straight out of hs with my stats who got into those schools but now with this semester idk what to expect.
Given your high school stats and 1 semester college GPA, BC, Tulane and WF would be high reaches. Penn State Smeal is as more prestigious than Santa Clara and Fordham and not that different from the others.
@TomSrOfBoston I go into WF senior year, and yeah but I want a location, size and culture change. I don’t like this remote location among other things
@TomSrOfBoston if you have any recommendations of colleges that fit what I want I am open to other ideas as well, but transferring from psu ideally I want somewhere as or more prestigious
Prestigious schools are usually harder to transfer into than it is to be accepted as a freshman. Focus on finding the environment that you want instead of the name.
