"Preview NU 2005"

I’m going on the 18th-19th…Just wondering if most people are going with their parents or a friend or just alone?

I’m going alone.

I’m going alone (19-20)

My dad’s coming… he went with me to USC because he didn’t want me flying into LA by myself, especially because USC isn’t in the greatest end of town, and then he decided he needs to “help compare colleges” by going to them all with me.

going alone 19-20.

why u going if u live in chicago???

It’s worth looking at the school and staying overnight… I’m going to Rice’s even though I live nearby.

exactly. i’ve researched at northwestern, but i’ve never really looked at the school itself or its dorms etc. i know of other people from my school who are going as well.

and i want to meet with the financial officer, since im getting zero aid, which is horrible considering we’re just middle class people…

yay alone-ers! hehehe. i just visited cornell and it was a little awkward to be the only one without a parent.:frowning: see you all on the 19th!:)

NUCat, you said staying overnight isn’t necessarily needed. I’ve never been to NU before but I am going to Preview NU soon- however, since I don’t live near Chicago, my mom and I will be flying to spend the week there. I don’t want to leave her alone in a city we don’t know well, but I also feel like maybe staying over would be a good idea to get a full impression of the college. Any recommendations?

definitely stay overnight. You can’t get a good feel of the place until you see how students live. Your mom of course will haev to stay off campus. It is not at all uncommon for paretns to come. Im visiting with my dad the 21-22nd. When my brother visited 3 years ago, my mom went with him. There are a range of hotels near NU. The closest, and by far, teh nicest (and most expensive) in Evanston, is the Orrington. Its across the street from teh administrative quads. I think theres a best western, and some otehrs as well. Of course, she could always stay somewhere in chicago. Its best, if, when making a choice, she finds someplace near the Purple line of the El, so she doesnt have to transfer when taking teh train up to see NU and get back to teh hotel.
