I’m looking at the registration form and wondering if I should check the box for Greek Housing.

what for? u cant live there the first year anyways…

I would recommend not staying in a Greek house. The point of your visit is to get a taste of residential life, so I would stay in a dorm.

Hey readytoleavehs,
Don’t let the Greek Life turn you away from NU. Although about 40% of students are in a Greek organization, it is by no means essential to the NU experience. I am in a sorority, but my best friend is not. The Greek/Non-Green relationship is not strained at all, and I really feel like the system here is a lot less intense than many other schools. I lived in a res college this year and will do the same next year, I won’t be living in my sorority house. I had originally thought i wanted a school without a Greek system too, but now I realize that they really add something to NU with their various philanthropies throughout the year. Just remember that there is no pressure to join a house, and you will still have a social life if you do not rush.

Thanks so much NUcat…its really been affecting my decision

should i go to this thing? will it be really helpful?

If you are not familiar with the NU campus, it would probably be a good idea to go to preview NU. You see the campus, experience some of the campus groups (a cappella, dance, ect), and you can stay with a student in one of the dorms. If you don’t feel comfortable staying with a stranger, you can request anyone you know at NU to stay with (i stayed with my brother) or you don’t have to stay at all. It helps you get an idea what campus life is like. If you are set on NU, i guess you don’t need to come, but if you are debating between schools, it could really help. It was helpful for me and I made my decicion on a Preview NU weekend.

i was away for a while so i didnt get a chance to register before it became full…so i was just wondering, how does a non-overnight visit compare to preview NU?

Staying overnight isn’t totally needed, it can just be fun. A campus tour and a chance to see some dorms is probably enough to help you make a decision.

It is. I visited this weekend and was blown away; I sent in my deposit today. :)

I was accepted early decision and I am wonder what is “Preview NU”?? I have no information on this and i am kind of worried…

It’s a preview event for admitted students in mid-late April. I got information on this in my acceptance packet and also on the online status page.

I’m going from the 19th to the 20th.

Is there anything fun to do Tuesday nights? I’m looking to party. :)

also going the 19th… see u there

Me too (19th-20th)

I’m going 18 and 19

They purposely schedule them during nights when there aren’t many parties going on. Sunday-Wednesday is the real down time on campus.

Probably a good idea, on their part, since I know my friends who went to Wash U. for a similar program were surrounded by parties and that was all they could do. Then they started getting busted for drugs in the frats…

i guess the preview NU thing isn’t for EDers. we already have to go so they don’t have to bother trying to persuade us.

hm… so since I’m a procrastinator, I tried signing up yesterday (last day) and all 3 dates were closed!!! oh well…
