My first time around, I transferred from my local community college to a UC school with a declared major of Business Economics. Unfortunately, I was discharged from the university. Expelled. Very unfortunate circumstances in my personal life took over all my time, and after failing multiple classes (I wasn’t even on campus half the time, tending to said personal matters) I was let go. Now, with my life having been stabilized, I am attempting to go back with a degree in Electrical Engineering. I’ve always had a passion for sciences, but am now finally waking up to this reality and understand what I believe I was born to do. I don’t know why I ever had an identity crisis trying to go into economics/finance (pressure to get things done as quickly as possible was a main factor, as these BA majors don’t have many classes to fulfill). The goal right now is to get only A’s in all the major related pre-req classes to prove that I deserve a shot, that I am serious about this. So far, out of the 11 classes I need (aside from my GE’s, which are mostly A’s) for Electrical Engineering, I have three A’s, and working on #4 and #5 as we speak. I want to know, will schools like UCLA, or maybe some of the Cal States even consider me, considering my past?

I don’t know how much it would affect you but it is good that you weren’t expelled for cheating/violence/drugs.

Be prepared to write about it, and to explain everything.

Why don’t you meet with a counselor? Are there any UCs or CSUs near you?
