Price war near me in mid south TN between two no names. 3.03 and 3.05 this afternoon. I hope it lasts. $3.19 at Shell and BP.

$4.39 by my house. ( for regular)

$3.22 at Costco in Texas.

3.39 in Minneapolis-St Paul but it’s great biking weather so I’m burning carbohydrates, not hydrocarbons.

Down 20 cents in a week, to $3.49.

$4.13-$4.19 in Orange County, CA

it goes up and down on a daily basis, but my car is taking only the most expansive one anyway. The cheapest has not been over $4 yet. We also have an oil boom in our state apparently. Thank goodness, press does not talk about it. As we have plenty of refineries close by, I hope that maybe in couple years or so the gas will be really low here…or maybe not, let’s wait unitl Nov.

$3.35 at Home Depot (a little less at Costco) in middle Tennessee.

4.69 at Miami.

$3.43 fillup this morning.

$3.199/gal Tampa today. Down 25 cents in less than one month.

Hoping we can get a federal investigation as to why our gas prices are $.65 gal higher than every one else.

^ good chance your local and state gasoline taxes are higher than other areas.

We traveled five hours across our state last night. Gas prices ranged from $3.39/gal to $3.19/gal.

Could be pipeline or refinery issues, taxes, whether or not your state requires special summer blends that aren’t common, etc. Our gasoline prices are a lot lower than they were six months ago but we’re still well above various states in the Southeast.

The local refinerys have cut production to control prices.

Alaska’s attorney general did an investigation a few years ago into gasoline price fixing in Alaska and in the report the spread between Alaska gas prices and Seattle prices were cited. In the Alaska report it is mentioned Seattle gas prices have a wide spread of around $.40/gal in locations in the Seattle area. Maybe there is something not right with gas pricing in Seattle area?

It isn’t just Seattle.

According to research gas prices should have fallen to $3.51 gal, if prices followed supply costs.

I received an email from Apache this morning. They’re announcing discoveries of 3.8 billion barrels of oil equivalent in the Permian Basin (Texas/New Mexico), 5.4 billion BOE in the Anadarko Basin (Oklahoma/Texas), British Colombia (48 trillion cubic feet of natural gas), and 800 million BOE in Argentina. They have five exploration projects underway that they expect will add another 5 billion BOE in the future. This is just one drilling company and one that isn’t all that well-known. I do not see a huge amount of upside for crude oil, and therefore gasoline, unless central bankers crank up the printing press.

The refinery issue will always be with us though. I don’t think that a new refinery has been built in the US in several decades.

The cheapest I’ve seen it here this week is $3.55/gallon.
